Blogmas: Day Five- Favourite Christmas food

Today I'm rocking a Christmas jumper I got from Primark yesterday. I love it, it feel so festive and has the colours I love wearing (which is reds, burgandy's and navy blues). Burgandy seems to be a colour theme for me this year! I also can't really do a makeup thing like most bloggers as all I wear is eye liner and a nude lipstick.

This tree is in my garden, I love the colours it produces in the autumn and winter months. The photo doesn't really do it justice but with the high winds, this is the best I could do.

Anyway today's blogmas is about my favourite Christmas food. Now anyone that knows me know I'm a big foodie. So choosing a favourite food is difficult. But I have to say I love roasted vegetables, it could be potatoes, parsnips, sweet potatoes the list is endless. Now I know roast veg is on the menu all year round with Sunday Dinner's etc. But for some reason at Christmas they taste even better. They taste even better with olive oil, bit of salt and sometimes sweet garlic. Knowing me once I post this I'll think of a tonne more favourite food but for now I'm sticking with roast vegetables.

Blogmas: Day Four- Favourite Christmas Song

This is a difficult one again. There are so many songs that I love listening to. But Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody is one of my top favourites. This song hold a few memories for me. I used to go to dance classes and every year we would have a Christmas party/ receiving medals for our dance exams. This is the song we would do a barn dance to. The Christmas parties were the only time we could all dance together rather than in separate classes to learn routines each week. My anxiety varied each week at dance classes, but the parties were when I felt most comfortable. Which is odd really considering the fact there were more people on the dance floor watching me dance.

This is also the first Christmas song I listen to every year. Not sure why, but it always gets me in the festive spirit. I hope this link I put in works.. never added a video before.

Anxiety: It's okay to cry

Today's been a bit rubbish so I thought I'd put this one up earlier than I'd planned to. Also to point out this doesn't just apply to people with anxiety. Everyone has their bad days, weeks and even months. Sometimes it's okay to have a good cry. I'll give you an example that's really personal to me. I've been bullied, that's no secret I've said it before in previous posts, but I've never given any specifics. In fact a lot of my friends and family don't know about this. Bearing in mind this happened about 13 years ago and it's stuck shows how bulling can affect a person.

I was in Year 7 and coming home from school on a public bus like usual. Only this time a boy from Year 11 decided to shout abuse at me down the bus. This led to a bus load of school children laughing at me. At first I was mortified, then I just was too upset I sat at the front of the bus trying to hide my face crying. As he got off the bus he pulled my hair to try to get me to look at him, when I didn't move he shouted more abuse at me and got off the bus. I was that upset I completely missed my bus stop. I just want to point out none of my friends on the bus helped me. Luckily a girl who lived on the next street from me helped me off the bus and walked me home.

To this day going on buses triggers anxiety, I dig my nails into my hands and have to eat mints, sweets or look out the window to distract myself on the journey. I've also realised I tend to rub my nails (weird and also a reason nail polish never lasts on my hands).

So here's what I mean, my hands aren't dirty its shadow..

Back to my main point, if I didn't cry, letting all the feelings out I reckon I wouldn't be able to talk about it now. So crying is good, it doesn't mean you are weak. Cry it out, watch a film, indulge in some treats, then talk to a friend or family member about it. And if you cry again it's okay.

I hope me sharing this extremely personal story helps someone out there.

Blogmas: Day three- Favourite Christmas film(s)

So this is a really hard one as I love nearly every Christmas film. Going to cheat a bit and give you my top 3.

Elf- What can I say, it has comedy, Christmas and a bit of a moral behind it. I've been wanting to re-watch this from November, but mum has a rule of watching Christmas films from December.. This is my go to film when I'm feeling anxious, as I've watched this countless times and still laugh at the same parts.

Miracle on 34th Street is absolutely adorable, one of those films you watch when you are feeling a bit low and want a smile.

Sorry this one is sideways, can't work out why.. anyway. The Santa Clause (the first one), is another one of my favourites as it's usually the one the whole family enjoys together.
Sorry this one isn't as long, didn't really know what else to say.

Blogmas: Day Two- What Christmas means to me

To me Christmas is the only time we get to eat all together as a family. It's the time we argue the least and eat the most. Christmas is also the time when my anxiety is at its lowest, growing up I've always loved Christmas and loved going to bed early and waking up finding Santa had been. Even now being slightly older, I love 'helping Santa out' by sorting out the presents under the tree, and making sure my sister wakes up to something exciting.

This is me, not too sure how old I am but judging by the lack of siblings must be around 2 or 3 years old. And despite the socks over trousers choice aside (which I still do when cold around the house sometimes) I have always loved taking pictures by the tree.
See told you.. Anyway

For me I think this season is magical. Cheesy I know, but seeing children being so excited shows me that magic can exist and as we grow up we tend to lose it. I just love the concept of Christmas in general.

Blogmas: Day One- favourite traditions

My favourite Christmas tradition is when dad goes up into the attic and me, mum and my brother and sister stand at the bottom of the stairs waiting for him to bring down the Christmas stuff. There's not much we can do collectively as a family anymore and this is something that brings us together and we have alot of fun and giggles doing it.

We haven't got our down yet as we usually have to wait until mum isn't working. So can't show us bringing them down yet. But here's a picture of some baubles until I can update the blog.

Another tradition is to buy new Christmas trinkets every year. This year we picked a penguin(which I think was from either Asda or Wilkinson but not 100% sure.. The little fluffy things my sister made a while back but it they looked cute sitting together.

My third favourite tradition is to fill the snowman jar with goodies. These are usually chocolate coins, chocolate Santas.. well chocolate..

Blogmas

I've decided to do blogmas this year. Mainly because it means thinking of something christmassy everyday and I love to spread joy where I can. I'm going to use the blogmas ideas I found online from last year but oh well I'm new to this...

I never usually put up pictures either because it tends to be a trigger for my anxiety. So its an additonal challenge within itself! So here's what I'm wearing today. Admittedly its a bunny wearing glasses and not an xmas jumper, but its so comfy. Also excuse the mess and cage.. sharing a room with a 15 year old and two guinea pigs means I rarely have a tidy room...

And here's me.. don't really know what else to add, hairs a bit messy but I've not long woken up

Hope you enjoy.
